Mitsubishi is about to release a new model and rumor has it that it’s going to be a big, tough SUV. People have been guessing that it could be a competitor to the popular Toyota Kluger, or maybe even the iconic Pajero!
Mitsubishi honchos were considering sharing the platform with Nissan Pathfinder, but they don’t want to make a soft-roader reimagination of the Pajero – they want it to keep its tough reputation.
Mitsubishi might bring back the Pajero, but it won’t be just a regular car. The president dreams big for it. The design of the car is inspired by Mitsubishi and other Nissan cars, so it will look sleek and modern. It’s going to be a mix of the Nissan Patrol and Infiniti QX Monograph concept.
The QX Monograph got a killer rear end with sleek dimensions and bold shoulders. The Pajero Sport ladder-frame SUV’s gorgeous alloy wheels and LED tail lights, however, are the true show-stoppers.
Mitsubishi has made a bold move with their latest Pajero model. This beast is a major departure from its predecessor, which hit the market in 2006 and underwent some changes until its closure in 2020.
Mitsubishi’s upcoming Pajero won’t just be a copy of Nissan’s Patrol. According to Koichi Namiki, the brand’s general manager of product strategy, the Pajero will embody Mitsubishi’s unique identity. Namiki also emphasized that if they decide to produce it, they will have full control over the project.
In a move to rival the likes of the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series and Nissan Patrol, Mitsubishi may transition the ‘Pajero‘ to a body-on-frame vehicle, using a tweaked version of the Triton’s ladder frame chassis. While this may seem like a drastic change, the new design would offer better towing, loading, and off-roading capabilities.
And that’s not all – with the updated design, Mitsubishi would also be able to seamlessly incorporate battery-electric or plug-in hybrid powertrains, making the ‘Pajero’ the ultimate vehicle for adventurers who want both power and efficiency.
