Mercedes-AMG made a new car. It’s called the 2024 AMG GT. It has all-wheel drive and seats four people. The car is inspired by the Porsche 911. Don’t worry, it’s still a powerful car.
The newest AMG might be the last with no electric boost. The GT coupe comes in two versions – the AMG 55 and the AMG 63. And the AMG 55 has 350kW of power. The AMG 63 has 430kW and 800Nm of torque.
The new GT has stress-easing AWD. It also has a four-wheel interlinked suspension system. It’s bigger than the previous sports car. It’s more grown-up. The new AMG GT is nearly 300kg heavier than before. We can expect similar development to the previous model. Focused R, Black Series, and GT R Pro models will come out later. They will target chopping Nordschleife lap times.

How big is the new AMG GT?
The new AMG GT is larger than the old one. It is 4728mm long and 70mm longer in the wheelbase. It is also slightly narrower but taller than the old one. The extra space inside is good, but it makes the car heavier.
The GT is heavy despite using many materials. It weighs 1970kg. AMG used a clever chassis to handle the weight. Both axles use a five-link independent design. Suspension components have forged aluminium parts. Anti-roll bar trickery is used. Each damper is connected hydraulically. The AMG GT can adjust roll characteristics by dispersing oil between dampers.
When bending with heavy loads, outside dampers resist compression to lessen roll. On straight roads, oil goes back to the reservoir for more independence for each wheel. It keeps lighter steel coil springs while increasing compliance on bumpy roads. The AMG GT’s chassis features four-wheel steering, 390mm steel brake discs, and adaptive dampers with six drive modes.

The AMG GT has V8 engines.
No plug-in hybrid in M178 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. It’s built in Affalterbach with ‘one man one engine’ philosophy. The latest AMG GT tweaked its engine.
Mercedes-AMG makes engine changes. New oil pan and redesigned crankcase ventilation. Repositioned intercooler and optimised inlet/outlet ports. Revised exhaust path and larger petrol particulate filter. Efficient engine with lower CO2 emissions. AMG GT is currently petrol only, but electrification is being considered.
AMG GT is coming to Australia. The price and release date is unknown. It will compete with Porsche 911 GTS and will have a similar price to AMG SL 63.
