Ford’s got some new names up their sleeves for their trucks! First up, the F-200 – a truck that’s tougher than your average F-150 but not quite as wild as a Super Duty. Plus, they’ve also trademarked the name “Lobo” – sounds like they’re making up some exciting new models.
Ford files for new car name in Class 12, hints at upcoming model in popular F-Series. Reports suggest the new model could be named F-200, following the truck series’ tradition of numerical progression. But don’t expect it to be just like its big brother, the F-250. Sources reveal the F-200 will offer a tougher option than the F-150, catering to heavy hauling and towing needs.
The F-150 is the lightest truck of the bunch and can carry a whopping half-ton in the short bed or up to 3,300 pounds in the long bed. But wait, there’s more! The F-150 can pull a whopping 14,000 pounds! Now that’s impressive.
However, the F-250 takes towing to the next level with a staggering 23,000-pound capacity and a maximum payload of 4,269 pounds. So, is an all-new model necessary? Absolutely! By beefing up the F-150’s frame, Ford could easily increase its payload to 5,500 pounds and a towing rating of 18,000 pounds. The competition better watch out because Ford is not holding back!
Forget about the big, bulky F-250 Super Duty truck because people are going small but still packing a punch. That’s right, the Maverick has taken the market by storm and proved that downsizing can still mean powerful ability. And now, a smaller F-200 is in the works, making it even cheaper to maintain and easier to handle than its heavy-duty sibling.
Ford might be introducing a new hybrid model, possibly called the F-200, to their F-150 lineup to differentiate it from their all-electric Lightning model.
They’ve even trademarked other electric names like Maverick Lightning and Ranger Lightning. But there’s also a chance that Ford is simply trademarking names for future use.
With the amount of testing Ford has done, we could already be seeing hints of the F-200 without even realizing it. The updated F-150 will debut in mid-September at the Detroit Auto Show.
Stay tuned for more updates!
